4-H Acres Phase IV
Group in circle on lawn

Homeschool Circle

Tompkins County 4-H has a tremendous impact on the lives of its young people, and 4-H Acres is a key to that impact.

4-H Acres is used more than 300 days a year, over 8,000 hours,

by over 3,000 participants from across the county! To keep our momentum going, we are asking you to make a gift to the 2018 4-H Acres Annual campaign.

As we reflect on the last four years of progress  in making 4-H Acres a place to belong all year long, we am so appreciative of the kindness you have shown. Together we have raised over $200,000 and leveraged hundreds of hours of volunteer time to support the facility.  Because of your commitment to 4-H Acres and the 4-H Youth Development Program, we are able to fulfill our mission and vision of connecting youth to hands-on learning opportunities that help them grow into competent, caring, contributing members of society and  a world in which youth and adults learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change.

To keep our momentum going, we are asking you to make a gift to the 2018 4-H Acres Annual campaign.

4-H Acres is used to provide programming such as 4-H OURS after school program (four days/week during the school year), 4-H Primitive Pursuits (year round programming), 4-H Kritter Kamp, 4-H Youth Fair, 4-H Club programming and educational meetings, rental location for youth and community events in a central

Youth Mentees and Cornell Mentors in line

location and commercial kitchen for local food entrepreneurs.

This crucial programming helps youth in our community build leadership skills, increase animal science experiences,  showcase their work, experience one-on-one mentoring, thrive outside and more.  4-H Acres raises its capital through fund raising opportunities, grants, and rental of the facility to outside groups.  We received exciting news that the County is going to support efforts to continue to make important upgrades at 4-H Acres in 2019!

Because of your generous donations, the following work has been completed since we began this campaign four years ago:

The building of a new office in Kiwanis Hall

  • Brand new heating and insulation throughout Kiwanis Hall, making it a year-round building
  • The installation of new flooring throughout all of Kiwanis Hall
  • The installation of new flooring in the Pole Barn
  • A new center station in the Pole Barn (volunteer project and paid for by a volunteer)
  • Installation of a new Arbor and plants (donation and volunteer and youth led project).
  • Installation of new fence throughout the pole barn (volunteer project and paid for by a volunteer)

    OURS/YOURS Mentees and Mentors

  • Movement and upgrades to the manure pit and wash rack (volunteer project and paid for by a volunteer)
  • Painting of Bowker bathrooms (walls and floors)
  • New lighting in the Pole Barn and Kiwanis Hall

With your help, we can provide young people and community members with facilities that support high quality non-formal education.  Future upgrades will include bathroom upgrades, new doors, venting, new Bowker roof, siding, and much more. Because we know you care about young people and believe that 4-H can help equip them with the skills they need to make a difference in today’s world, we are asking you to please join us in giving as generous a gift as you can to 4-H Youth Development in Tompkins County.

Every dollar of your contribution will benefit young people right here in our community!

Thank you for considering giving to 4-H Acres.
